Yuxing Ji Noodle Restaurant (People’s Square Branch) 裕興記蟹黃面館 (人民廣場店)
If you’re in Shanghai, crab roe noodles are a must, and Yu Xing Ji (裕興記) truly lives up to its reputation. Located on Nanjing West Road near People’s Square, this restaurant is famous for its rich crab roe dishes and great portions.
We ordered their signature crab roe noodles (蟹黃面) and the shrimp & crab meat noodle set (蝦仁蟹粉面). both were super rich, satisfying, & very flavorful. You can also choose between white rice or noodles, which are Unlimited refills on both!! Each set came with side dishes as well: pickled white and black fungus, plus 2 fresh mandarin oranges.
One highlight was their “Gold Medal Crab Roe Soup Giant Dumpling” (金牌蟹黃大湯包), it is basically a massive soup dumpling served piping hot, with a straw to sip the crab infused broth directly from inside. overall, it was Such a fun and unique experience!
Service can be slower during peak hours, so plan accordingly. Overall, Yu Xing Ji is a solid spot for crab lovers seeking authentic Shanghai flavors!

Chenglonghang 成隆行蟹王府
This is another iconic one-star michellin spot famous for their hairy crab and crab roe dishes. Though it’s pricier than the previous restaurant, every bite is absolutely worth it! If you’re craving the ultimate crab feast, this place is a MUST. all Our friends and family have all been here & every single one of them recommends it without hesitation!
The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, which perfectly set the tone for our dining experience!
The steamed hairy crabs (清蒸大閘蟹) were incredibly fresh and tasty! They first let you see the live crabs, then steam them and even cut everything up for you, so you can directly enjoy the meat and roe without the hassle of peeling, So convenient!
We also tried the Supreme Shark’s Fin with Crab Meat soup (王府蟹肉魚翅), and it was absolutely delicious! Every spoonful was rich, savory, and full of flavor, making it one of the standout dishes of the meal!
We loved the crab roe rice (秃黃油撈飯) so much! It was thick, creamy, and delicious. The portion wasn’t huge, which was great because it left room to try more of their amazing crab dishes. With a touch of vinegar, it tasted even better!
Their crab with tofu bowl (蟹粉豆腐) was also irresistibly good, the tofu was soft and silky, pairing perfectly with the rich crab powder.
The crab steamed dumplings (蟹粉小籠包) were amazing, they were extremely Juicy, full of rich soup, and so tasty, you’ve got to order them when you come here.

Li Bai Xie (The Bund branch) 李百蟹 (外灘豫園店)
We finally made it to the legendary Li Bai Xie on the Bund, & honestly, it lived up to the hype especially because of that view. You’re literally sitting in a historic building, looking right across the river at the Oriental Pearl Tower. It feels fancy, but the vibe is actually pretty lively and fun!
We went straight for the 2 person set and it lets you build your own perfect bowl. You get three separate containers of crab roe, crab meat, and crab stick, plus and some marinated prawns. You can pile it all onto either unlimited rice or noodles.
Another surprise for us were the desserts included in the set. The Chewy Green Rice Ball Icy Tofu Pudding was refreshing and the warm Taro Paste with Mochi was perfectly sweet.
⭐ One thing to know, everyone wants a window seat for that iconic view, and they don’t take reservations for them. It’s strictly first-come, first-served, So if you want one, you better plan your visit around off-peak hours (we had our dinner here at 9:00pm lol) ⭐
