Hong Kong’s Best Restaurants for a Memorable Valentine’s Date 💌

royal inn (Causeway Bay 銅鑼灣店)

We recently visited Royal Inn, a cozy Western restaurant at their Causeway Bay branch (they also have another location in Tsim Sha Tsui). Overall, we found the experience quite enjoyable, the food was delicious and the atmosphere warm and inviting.

For appetizers, we tried the escargot with mashed potato (蒜蓉田螺) and cod fish maw pumpkin soup (鱈魚膠南瓜濃湯). The soup was thick and rich, while the escargot was wonderfully buttery, paired with mushrooms for an indulgent bite. Both dishes were absolutely perfect to start the meal.

For our mains, we enjoyed the chicken fricassee (大蒜蘑菇忌廉烤鷄), alongside the yun nan wild morel mushroom goose liver stew rice (雲南羊肚菌鵝肝燴意大利飯). The risotto was presented in a clay pot style, giving it that irresistible layer of slightly burnt rice at the bottom, so flavorful! The chicken was also perfectly cooked as well, it was golden and crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy within. As massive chicken lovers, we can confidently say this dish won our <3.

lastly, we also had their classic apple crumble paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (蘋果金寶). The contrast of warm, spiced crumble and cool, creamy ice cream was simply so irresistable ughhhh, the perfect sweet ending to our meal!

pici (central soho branch 中環蘇豪店)

If you want a relaxed and cozy dinner for Valentine’s Day, you can choose Pici in Central. We like all their locations, but the Central one is special. It feels warm and happy inside, with soft lights and an open kitchen where you can see the chefs making fresh pasta. It’s perfect for a quiet and romantic night.

What We Always Order:

To Start: We share the Burrata cheese (布袋芝士) (it’s soft, creamy, and fresh) and the Bone marrow wagyu Tartare (和牛骨髓他他) (so flavorful)

For Mains: We get two pastas to share. The Tagliolini truffle (鮮刨黑松露細麵) (must have) is rich and amazing. And we always get the Pappardelle beef cheek (慢煮牛面頰寬帶麵), the meat is so tender and the pasta is fresh and tasty.

For Dessert: You must try their Tiramisu (提拉米蘇). We think it’s the best in Hong Kong. It’s light, creamy, and the perfect sweet end to the meal.

The vibe here is just right, special enough for a celebration but still relaxed. You can talk, laugh, and enjoy really great food! For us, Pici is a perfect choice for a lovely and easy date night.

La Vache (The Peak 山頂店)

Are you someone who gets stressed looking at a long menu? Do you and your date never seem to agree on what to eat? Then La Vache! is your Valentine’s Day answer. Seriously, it’s the easiest, most enjoyable choice.

We’ve been to all their spots, but the new branch at The Peak is now our absolute favourite. Why? The view. You’re up above the whole city, surrounded by the sparkling Hong Kong skyline. It’s the most amazing place for a special dinner.

Here’s the best part: You don’t have to choose anything but how you want your steak cooked. That’s it. No stress. The menu is one perfect set meal, and it hasn’t changed for a reason.

Here’s exactly what you’ll get:

First: A fresh, crisp walnut green salad (核桃沙律)with walnuts to start things off lightly.

The Main Event: A beautiful USDA Prime ribeye steak (USDA Prime 美國頂級肉眼扒), cooked exactly how you like it. It comes with a huge pile of their famous thin, crispy French fries (金黃香脆薯條) (and they’re unlimited!). The real star is their secret house sauce. it’s rich, a little tangy, and completely delicious.

Finally: If you somehow have room, they have lovely desserts to share.

Top Tip: Book a window seat well in advance for the best view. This is the most romantic spot they have!

Picanhas’ (central soho branch 中環蘇豪店)

We love Picanhas’. It’s small, lively, and all about great value. The best seat? Right at the counter, watching the chefs work on the wood-fire grill.

They focus on one thing and do it perfectly: picanha. You get three choices, all cooked perfectly with a smoky flavour and served with their amazing chimichurri sauce.

For dinner, you can pick from: 200 Days Grain Fed Black Angus Picanha
(200日穀飼黑安格斯牛臂蓋扒)/ Dry-aged Black Angus Picanha (乾式熟成黑安格斯牛臂蓋扒) / Australian Wagyu M9+ (澳洲MS9+和牛). Start with the duo of empanadas, they’re a tasty, doughy treat. The sugary cinnamon churros for dessert are fluffy inside and absolutely a must.

Best Value: Their lunch set for HKD $158 is a steal. You get a main, salad, fries, churros, and a drink.
Best Deal: Go on a Tuesday or Thursday for 50% off their huge T-bone and tomahawk steaks.
